Montana Lake brings you to the wild nature of the Bulgarian mountains and valleys.
The lake is situated in the idyllic, peaceful countryside of the mountains around Sofia. It is set well away from busy main roads and noise - the only neighbors you'll be likely to see are cows grazing in the nearby fields - making this an ideal setting for a quiet week of fishing away from it all.

You will experience special weather conditions because of the mountains. Often you will find you’re self in the sun, while you can see the lightning and rain just a few miles away. The lake is spring fed from the mountains and this brings fresh cool water to the lake most of the year.  Therefore fishing is very good in the hot month July and August. Average depth is 15 feet with shallow margins and deep parts to be found. Deepest part of the lake is 27 feet, depending of the water level. The bottom is mostly hard, gravel and some silt. Not many snags, but some old reeds and fallen trees are present.

There is an old stock of carp in the lake that we don’t know the size of yet. We have seen about 40 different fish banked now from the old stock. All very nice fish from 33lb – 59lb.
We have stocked the lake with 450 carp from 2005 – 2008. Mirror carp, common carp, grass carp, Koi carp and 11 sturgeon plus 80 catfish from 8lb – 60lb.
The biggest stocked carp is a stunning long common at 72lb+ in 2005. Still haven’t bin banked. But lost one time 2 meters from the net. It looked like 80lb+
About 70% of the carp we have stocked are 30lb+ with many fish over 45lb+

About 80% of the stock is 25lb+ and growing fast. Some small carp are present from spawning each year, but most will be eaten because of the catfish in the lake.

There is 7 swims around the lake. No build swims to ruin the nature, only a few cut down tree to make space for the angler. This will insure plenty of room to move around if you wish. Some swims are only accessible by boat. There are 4 boats available for the anglers on the lake to bee used for baiting and fighting the fish if needed.
 
There are guards 24/7 on the lake, to make sure everybody are save and they are always ready with a helping hand if needed.

There is cabin on the bank side for the use of anglers which includes eating area, English style toilet & a small shower. Included in the price you will get food delivered in your swim 3 times per day.  
You can buy maize, hemp, particle mix, pellets, boilies and different kind of popups, oils, pva bags, carp leads and so on in the shop on site.. You can see prices under bait in the menu.

Please read the rules very carefully about hook size and fish care.

Included in the price are bivvy, chair, bedchair, unhookingmat, landing net, weighsling, rodpod, 3 carp rods and boat and transport to the lake from Sofia airport and back when leaving Bulgaria.
